Why I’m Hosting The Food Co-op and How to Join

In Blog, Fit n Free Meals, Health & Wellness

crying about foodDuring September 2014 I wrote an article about the cost of food and how prices were increasing, especially organic fruits and vegetables.  I was interested in starting a food co-op to help curb costs so I introduced Eat Right Atlanta.  In case you’ve been wondering it has begun and those who are participating are really enjoying the quality and taste of the beautiful produce we now have access to.  Personally I love not having to soak my fruits and veggies to remove the waxy pesticides.  You must know that the waxy pesticides that you ingest build up inside your body.  Pesticides are not meant to be ingested yet they are on and in your food.  I don’t consume canned fruit and vegetables and organic produce is important to me.

Pesticides are cancer causing agents so it really doesn’t make sense that it is on fresh produce. Yes, I’m talking Agent Orange and chemicals that are considerably worse than that. It’s also not an accident that 1 in 3 Americans are diagnosed with cancer.  Those numbers are epidemic.  I understand the economic side of it for corporate farmers.  Profit.  Some farming corporations have decided that putting pesticides on food is not the way to go.  They’ve decided instead to put the pesticides inside the food by genetically modifying the food to repel insects, pests, weather and other elements away from the produce while it’s growing. One of the largest companies producing YOUR food that you purchase from the supermarket is actually a chemical company.  Why do you think chemical companies are now farming?  That’s a whole different topic that I’ll dig into at a later date.  If you want to read more about it in the meantime go to www.gmo-awareness.com

My motivation for doing this food co-op is to share with you things that I am passionate about.  Good nutrition and beneficial exercise.  I’m not into fads or gimmicks.  I believe in incorporating exercises that are sustainable that you can incorporate into your daily life.  Fads never last. And the key to your health is what you put into your mouth.  The food co-op is an opportunity for you to save money on organic produce. I am not personally profiting from the sale of the produce.

Let me share with you how to join the food co-op.

  1. Go to www.EatRightAtlanta.com
  2. Click on the link on the left that reads “Groups”
  3. From the Groups page find “Freestyle Fitness”
  4. Enter your information and click “I’m paying with credit card”

You’ll find several options.  Choose an option that is labeled “Group Delivery”.  It will help you save a little more and it’ll also indicate that you are a part of the Freestyle Fitness group order.  Once your order is placed forward a copy of your receipt to me at pamela@myfreestylefitness.com and put the current date in the subject line of the email.  That’s it!  Your order will be available for pick-up on the following Tuesday morning at the Freestyle Fitness studio.  Your name will be on the bag.  It’s my pleasure!
