  • Celeste Bush Pamela Bennett Fitness Trainer

    I am passionate about fitness and have been relatively active most of my life. I discovered “fitness” videos as a teenager. In my twenties I gained a different perspective on being “active” and “fit” as a woman. This interest continued once I married as my husband had always been active and lifted weights. Although he was consistent and disciplined in his approach I would work out off and on…never being consistent with exercising or with my eating. Even after the birth of my daughters, and subsequent changes in my body, my approach to both remained haphazard. I knew the impact consistent exercising and healthy eating could have but I remained inconsistent. Then I discovered Pamela Bennett and Freestyle Fitness boot camp. With accountability and the meal plan, I knew I was where I needed to be.

    Pam, along with other Bootcamp members, recognized my passion for fitness and encouraged me to become certified. I am currently certified in Zumba, Strong by Zumba and AFAA Group Fitness (as well as CPR, AED and First Aid). Disciplined and consistent fitness has totally changed the course of my health and my life. Who knew this is where I would be at this point. Fitness is a journey – not a destination. I love this journey and invite you to join me.

    Along my fitness journey, going from 289 to 145, I was encouraged by the Zumba instructor and my husband to continue to pursue my passion for fitness.  I had worked in the fitness industry in my early 20′s.  I decided to take it a step further and to renew my AAFA Group Fitness certification and then became certified to teach Zumba. Since then I have obtained certifications in Personal Training, CORE, R.I.P.P.E.D USA, Wellness Coaching and Nutrition, Aqua Zumba and I also teach AquaFit Cardio.

    I love that all the instructors with Pamela Bennett Fitness have come through the boot camp.  All of the trainers have been overweight and have lost weight so they understand our clients very well.  How well can you coach someone who is addicted to food if you yourself have never been addicted to food?  How effectively can you tell someone who is overweight how to move if you do not know what it feels like to be overweight?  That is what you get when you participate in a Pamela Bennett Fitness class or boot camp.

    Our classes are not just for the overweight population, our classes are for everyone.  Unfortunately more than 64.8% of Georgia adults are obese or overweight.  I have a passion for fitness and the boot camp. My goal is to help as many people as possible begin the journey to fitness.     Like most Zumba instructors, Zumba Fitness has made a great impact in my life. As a mother of a 13 year old son and full-time manager of a major retail chain, it has been a struggle to make fitness a part of my schedule. I’ve always wanted to set good examples for my son but there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day. Compounding the issue of not having enough time there was also the dilemma of finding a fitness routine I wanted to stick to. I’m only 5’1 and I weighed 185 lbs. That was a lot weight for my height. I had always been involved in some type of physical activity but like most of us, I tended to slack off and allow life, kids, job, etc. to get in the way.

    I found a Zumba class and fell in love with the way it made me feel and the way it made other people feel around me. I decided to become licensed to teach Zumba. Not long after that I lost the weight and a ton of inches. Not long after my first license I obtained a license to teach Zumba Step and my most recent license is Zumba Sentao. It’s amazing workout using a chair. I get to use all of my favorite Zumba genres in my routines like Reggaeton and Cumbia.

    I recently returned from the Zumba convention and I’m ready to hit the floor! With Zumba you get to meet all kinds of beautiful and amazing people. Zumba brings people together. I love that and I’m glad it’s a part of my life.

    I was always active throughout my adolescent years by running track, playing volleyball, and basketball. I continued to be active well into my adult life, but that all changed after marriage and children. Once I had my 2 beautiful girls, I lost myself completely. This is an issue most moms have. We focus solely on our children. We are busy and our children’s schedules are busier. I’ve been on a weight loss journey for the past 10 years, losing and then gaining more weight than I had lost. During a routine visit to my doctor’s office, I was told that I was obese and warned that my unhealthy lifestyle would ultimately lead to serious medical problems. I had to gain control of my health as soon as possible. In the last 8 months, I started taking my weight loss journey more seriously. With the encouragement of my children, mother, sister, and a few friends, I began searching for a fitness activity that I could stick with. For 2 months, I didn’t find anything that I enjoyed doing that would help me accomplish my weight loss goals.

    Six months ago I found Zumba and Pamela Bennett Fitness. I heard so much positive feedback about Zumba. It was hard to believe that dancing could change so many people’s lives. I decided to give it a try. I attended a Pamela Bennett Fitness boot camp where I was challenged to increase my cardio and expected to watch EVERYTHING I ate. I began to take baby steps towards a realistic lifestyle change, not just another diet. I made small changes like keeping fresh vegetables, fish, and chicken in my house. I stocked my refrigerator with water and started drinking water before my meals, because it helps make you feel full.  Through hard work and strong will, I’ve stuck with it.

    I was even encouraged by my Pamela Bennett Fitness
    family to become certified to teach Zumba. I love the new me, and I don’t ever want to see the old queen again. NEVER EVER!!! I gained control of my health and have become a better example to my girls. It’s important to me to set good fitness examples and habits for them. I know now that it helps to shape their attitudes and lifestyles in the future. I know that they are proud of me. I am a certified, licensed Zumba instructor.

  • JANET DAVIS Pamela Bennett Fitness Trainer

    Growing up as an athlete, my weight would fluctuate from sport to sport in between off seasons. I would always be able to catch my weight when it got out of control with minimal exercise. Upon graduating from college, sport activities became less a priority than work. I quickly fell into a size 16-18. I know this may not seem a lot to those with greater challenges but being a size 8 all your young adult life; doubling my size was traumatic.

    The world of fitness began to change for me when I received a challenge from a dear friend (PAT). She challenged me to enter a body building competition and dared me to train hard. Let’s just say that my challenge was met and I caught the bug. I won my first competition, and went on to compete for the Georgia title. I did not win my first Georgia show placing 3rd.

    I have work in the Aquatics field for 25+ years as a lifeguard, swim instructor and water aerobics instructor. I utilized water exercise to help with my conditioning to decrease the impact of joint compounding because of weight training. By adding water exercise to my work out regiment I was able to maximize training and conditioning. In 2010 I reach my goal of completion by winning the Ms. Georgia title Lt heavy weight category and overall. During the same year I was crowned Ms Northern Kentucky, Ms. Coastal of south eastern states and 7th place at Nationals. I was the example that age is nothing but a number. My body building experience began at the ripe age of 42.

    Life continues to get better. In September 2013, I met the founder and CEO Pamela Bennett of Pamela Bennett Fitness at Johnson Park Recreation center. I thought to myself that I love the class and the instructor’s energy. I would watch class while on duty. By January 2014 I knew all the routines. Not knowing at the time the world of fitness was about to change again for me. I told MS. Pam that I would soon be resigning my position and wanted to join her team. Becoming an instructor with the Pamela Bennett Fitness team has again become a life changing experience. It has ignited my own personal passion to compete again. More than that, I am committed to sharing my gifts in Aquatics and help those wanting to achieve their own personal goals. The Pamela Bennett Fitness team is full of compassion and love for those looking for that special attention to achieve goals.
